El Confidencial digital – Guinda Recognizes Hospital Gregorio Marañón for Its Advances in Pediatric Heart Transplantation

Guinda recognizes the researchers of the Immunoregulation Laboratory at Hospital General Universitario Gregorio Marañón for developing a treatment based on a cellular therapy designed to prevent immune rejection and potentially extend the survival of transplanted organs indefinitely, thereby prolonging patients’ lives.

This therapy has already been administered to seven infants who underwent heart transplantation, in whom no signs of rejection have been observed and no adverse effects related to the administration of so-called thyTreg cells have been identified.

The entire process has been developed in-house by the hospital’s Immunoregulation Laboratory, with financial support from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III and an altruistic donation from the Fundación Familia Alonso, positioning Gregorio Marañón at the global forefront in the use of this therapy.
